You come to Huntington Beach, California, when you want active living by the sea, year-round sunny weather, and exciting nightlife. At Beach Boulevard of Cars, we’re proud of everything that our city has to offer. We’d like to reveal just some of the things you can do here in the coming weeks.
What can be better than practicing yoga right on the sand? Everyone meets on the left side of Tower 14, located at Pacific Coast Highway and 14th Street. Hours vary, so be sure to sign up with Meetup or Facebook to get the latest to get the most current information. Bring a mat but don’t forget your sunscreen and a swimsuit, if you want to catch a dip later. Donations are welcome via cash, Paypal, or Venmo.
For some locals, the sun and surf inspire the art that you’ll find at this open-call, non-juried, salon-style exhibition, which features 200 local, regional, and national artists and over 250 works. At the Huntington Beach Art Center, you’ll marvel at paintings, sculptures, and jewelry made from various media. This event is free, but be sure to check the previous link for days and hours.
Do you own a cute corgi? Then, make sure to bring him and her to Huntington Dog Beach to join the largest meet of its kind. There’ll be a dog-centric vendor village, photo booths, a corgi kissing booth, gourmet food trucks, and other activities devoted to this lovable canine. Take time to say “hi” to Mister Pickles, the event’s official host, who also just happens to be a corgi. The event is free and welcomes all dog breeds and humans.
From 5-9 PM every Tuesday, Main Street downtown becomes a farmers market for oranges, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, artichokes, and other locally grown products. You’ll also find plenty of prepared foods like cheese, sauces, cakes, and bread, as well as merchandise like clothing, skateboards, and art. If you’re lucky, a street musician or two may entertain the crowd.
On select weekends at the Huntington Beach Pier Plaza, you can rock on to surf music from 11 AM to 6 PM. Groove to tunes from local bands while enjoying nearby vendors from 9 AM – 6 PM. The events are free, but any donations go to support the concert series and museum programs at the Huntington Beach International Surfin Museum, which sponsors the concerts.
Remember the old VW buses that used to ply PCH in the 50s, 60s, and 70s? You may have been lucky enough to ride one of these jalopies, complete with a surfboard, all the way to the beach. You can catch these vintage vehicles once again at this free event from 8 AM – 3:30 PM at the Huntington Beach Pier Plaza.
After you have enjoyed what Surf City has to offer, swing by and visit the dealership community of Beach Boulevard of Cars and find your next ride.
