What’s My Line?  Part One

Between 1950 and 1967, on CBS television, there was a game show called What’s My Line? The game used panelists to question contestants in order to determine their occupation. So, we are going to play the game but do it for our automotive dealerships and customers.

Getting to Know Our Crew at Beach Boulevard of Cars

Hi! I’m happy to see you here at one of the dealerships down at the Beach Boulevard of Cars in Huntington Beach. What is it that I do?

Which department will I find you working when I pull up in my SUV?

I will meet you at the door of the Service Department.

What is the first thing you will do?

Ask what brought you in – is it maintenance or something else? I will check your vehicle’s odometer and perform a visual inspection of your ride.

How long will we spend at your desk?

The check-in procedure at the Service Desk usually takes no more than five minutes. I will verify the reason for your visit and ask any questions the technician may need to troubleshoot a problem.

What is your primary responsibility?

I serve as the liaison between you, the customer, and our highly trained service technicians. I gather the information the techs need to complete your repair to point them in the right direction to troubleshoot an issue. When they have determined what needs to be done to fix the problem, I give you the information necessary to understand the fix, the costs, and the time required to get you back on the road. My position allows the techs to keep working while you receive the updates needed to reassure you of a fast and accurate repair.

Are you the person who answers the phone when I call to check on my ride?

No. However, once your vehicle is checked in, I will give you my name and business card. When you call or text the Service Department for an update, you can ask to speak to me directly. That way, we all stay on the same page since I am up to speed on the status of your vehicle.

Can you help me set up a ride when I need to leave my vehicle for service?

Yes, I am available to make sure that you are inconvenienced as little as possible while we take care of your vehicle. I can coordinate a shuttle, connect you with a rental, or schedule a pickup. I want to get you back behind the wheel ASAP.

What is your position?

I am your friendly Service Writer!

How can you contact a service writer?

Simply give your service center a click or call and ask for them by name. For example, for Huntington Beach Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, give the service department a ring at (714) 844-9964, or if you are visiting Delillo Chevrolet to have your Chevrolet Silverado serviced, call (714) 465 4429.

See you at the next game.
